फिल्म अभिनेता अपने बेबाक बयानों के लिए जाने जाते हैं। लेकिन उससे अधिक वो अपने विवादस्पद ट्वीट को लेकर मशहूर हैं। एक बार उनका ट्वीट सोशल मीडिया पर वायरल हो रहा है। महिला विश्व कप फाइनल खेल में भारतीय महिला क्रिकेट टीम को खेलने को लेकर की गई ट्वीट पर अब उन्हें ट्रोल किया जा रहा है।
दरअसल, ऋषि कपूर ने रविवार शाम अपने ट्विटर अकाउंट लिखा, लॉर्ड्स ग्राउंड पर सौरव गांगुली की उस हरकत को दोहराये जाने का इंतजार कर रहा हूं जब भारत ने 2002 नैटवेस्ट फाइनल में इंग्लैंड को हराया था।”

उल्लेखनीय है कि लॉर्ड्स के मैदान पर हुई इस घटना के दौरान पूर्व भारतीय कप्तान सौरभ गांगुली ने अपनी टीशर्ट उतारकर हवा में लहरा दी थी। इसके लिए उस समय गांगुली की भी क्रिकेट जगत में काफी आलोचना की गई थी।
